Anacortes boasts well over 500 acres of developed park land ranging from a tiny roadside park to awesome Washington Park with its 220 acres of beach and forest trails, campground, boat launch, and picnic/playground area. The eighteen parks offer special activities such as a spray park, skate park, off leash dog park, and disc golf, as well as more usual amenities such as sports fields, beach areas, and walking/biking trails.
In addition, 2800 acres of protected Anacortes Community Forest Lands are within the city. This area includes forest, meadows, wetlands, Mt. Erie, and three lakes. Fifty miles of trails accommodate hikers, bikers, and horse riders. Access to the forest lands is only a few blocks from the site of our future cohousing community!

Anacortes Senior College
Anacortes Senior College is run by and taught by volunteers. Classes are offered during fall, winter and spring terms, and meet at the Anacortes Middle School, for two hours per week for either three weeks or six weeks. The Senior College strives to provide a diverse curriculum in a no-stress environment that is comfortable for both learning and socializing. A six-week course is $30; a three-week course is $20.
